WHAT YOU CAN CATCH?

Offshore Species

Sailfish

During peak season—from December to April—anglers often experience 15 to 30 bites per day, with skilled crews frequently releasing double digits. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to the sport, Guatemala delivers an unmatched billfish experience.

MARLIN

Blue marlin are present most of the year, with increased chances during the warmer months. Boats regularly raise multiple marlin in a day. Stripe marlin are commonly released. Black marlin are caught but are not a routinely as blue and stripe marlin.

Tuna

Large yellowfin tuna patrol Guatemala’s offshore waters, with some fish reaching over 250 pounds. The average yellowfin is in the range of 40-100 pounds. Tuna can be found in open water or around schools of spinner dolphins and floating objects.

MAHI-MAHI

Dorado are abundant throughout the year, especially during the rainy season when floating debris attracts large schools. These colorful, aggressive fish offer exciting action both nearshore and offshore and offer some of the best dining one can imagine.

Inshore Species

Roosterfish

Famous for their distinct dorsal fins and strong fights.

JACK CREVALLE

Hard-hitting and always ready to strike.

Mackerel

Fast, toothy predators often caught near the surface.

Red Snapper

Found along reefs and rocky bottoms; great on the line and the grill.
